1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

ChurchDex LLC ("ChurchDex," "we," "our," or "us") operates an online platform and associated services (collectively, the "Service") that use artificial-intelligence–driven tools to present publicly available information about Christian churches (e.g., addresses, service times, styles of worship) and to help users locate places of worship. These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "user") and ChurchDex.

By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our separate Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service. Your use of the Service also indicates that you accept our AI-usage provisions and any other policies incorporated by reference.

These Terms may be modified at our discretion. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Service, and changes are effective when posted. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of the Service

ChurchDex aggregates publicly available data and uses automated tools to generate summaries of church information. The Service aims to make it easier for users to locate churches and understand general characteristics such as denominational affiliation, worship style, and service schedules. ChurchDex does not represent or speak on behalf of any church. Our AI-generated content is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute official statements, endorsements, or advice. You should contact a church directly to verify information before attending or relying on it.

Because AI technologies rely on publicly available data and learned patterns, the information generated may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or biases. The Service uses experimental technology and you should exercise discretion before relying on, publishing, or using any content generated by the Service. ChurchDex makes no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information. Any reliance you place on such information is at your own risk.

3. Eligibility and Age Requirements

The Service is intended for individuals who are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction). By using the Service, you represent that you are at least the minimum age and that you have legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you access the Service on behalf of an organization (for example, to manage church listings), you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

4. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time without prior notice. We may also modify or discontinue the AI-based features of the Service, and we may limit or revoke access to any user or group of users at our discretion. We will not be liable to you or any third party for such modifications, suspensions, or discontinuations.

5. Privacy Policy and Data Collection

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our separate Privacy Policy, which explains how ChurchDex collects, uses, and discloses your personal information. By using the Service, you consent to the collection, use, storage, and processing of information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Our AI systems may log and process user interactions to improve functionality and content moderation. Although we implement commercially reasonable security measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security and any data transmitted may be subject to unauthorized access.

You agree not to submit sensitive personal information (e.g., health or financial data), confidential business data, or any information protected under law (collectively, "Sensitive Information") through the Service. ChurchDex does not guarantee confidentiality, and any Sensitive Information you submit is at your own risk.

6. User Conduct and Acceptable Use

You are responsible for your use of the Service and any content you submit. You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Without limiting the foregoing, you agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service in any manner that violates federal, state, local, or international laws.
  • Submit, transmit, or solicit spam, junk mail, or other unsolicited advertising.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Engage in conduct that restricts or inhibits anyone's use or enjoyment of the Service, or that may harm ChurchDex or its users or expose them to liability.
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or circumvent the functioning of the Service or its security measures.
  • Use the Service to develop or train artificial-intelligence models or machine-learning systems.
  • Submit content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Attempt to override or bypass any AI safety filters or safeguards.
  • Input confidential, proprietary, or sensitive personal information into AI features on the Service.

We reserve the right to remove or refuse to post any content or to suspend or terminate your access for violation of these rules.

7. Account Registration and Security

To access certain features (e.g., claiming a church listing or contributing information), you may be required to create a user account and provide accurate, current, and complete information. You agree to maintain the security of your login credentials and not to share them with others. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. If you become aware of unauthorized use of your account, you agree to notify us promptly.

We may disable or revoke your credentials or access at any time for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. We may also require you to change your password or take other steps to protect your account.

8. User-Generated Content

The Service may allow users to submit content, such as church information, descriptions, photographs, reviews, or other materials ("User Content"). You retain ownership of any intellectual property rights that you hold in your User Content. However, by submitting User Content, you grant ChurchDex a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, and create derivative works of your User Content in connection with operating and promoting the Service.

You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your User Content does not violate these Terms or any applicable law. You agree that your User Content is not confidential or proprietary. We are not responsible for User Content and have no obligation to review, moderate, or remove it, although we reserve the right to do so at our discretion.

9. Intellectual Property Rights

Except for User Content, all content on the Service—including text, graphics, logos, photographs, videos, software, algorithms, and other materials—is owned by ChurchDex or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may temporarily store copies of the Service in RAM for display purposes and print or download a reasonable number of pages for personal use, but you may not otherwise reproduce, modify, distribute, perform, display, or exploit any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

ChurchDex trademarks and service marks (including our logo and the name "ChurchDex") are our property. You may not use our trademarks without written permission. All other trademarks displayed on the Service are the property of their respective owners.

10. Third-Party Links and Resources

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by ChurchDex. These links are provided for convenience only and do not imply endorsement. ChurchDex is not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party websites. Your use of third-party websites is at your own risk, and you should review their terms and privacy policies.

11. AI-Generated Content and Disclaimers

ChurchDex uses AI technologies to generate summaries and suggestions. All AI-generated outputs are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." ChurchDex makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content. The information provided is intended for general informational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice, including religious, legal, financial, health, or other professional advice. You should not rely on AI-generated content for critical decisions without independent verification.

Users are advised to disclose that AI tools were used when publishing or repurposing content generated by the Service. Because of the nature of machine-learning models, the outputs may not be exclusive and may be similar or identical to outputs provided to other users.

12. Payment, Premium Features, and Refunds

ChurchDex may offer free and paid features. If you purchase any subscription or paid feature, you agree to pay all fees specified and any applicable taxes. Payment processing may be handled by third-party service providers and will be subject to their terms. Unless otherwise stated, fees are non-refundable except as required by law or our separate billing policy. We reserve the right to modify our fees and billing terms at any time upon notice to you.

13. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service and all content are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without any warranties of any kind. ChurchDex expressly disclaims all warranties—express, implied, statutory, or otherwise—including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

ChurchDex does not guarantee the accuracy, adequacy, reliability, currency, or completeness of any information provided. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChurchDex will not be liable for any damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ChurchDex and its affiliates from any claims or liabilities arising out of your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or User Content you submit.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Service at any time and for any reason. Upon termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, U.S.A. Any disputes will be resolved in state or federal courts located in Knox County, Tennessee.

17. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement:These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement.
  • Severability:Unenforceable provisions will be limited or eliminated.
  • No Waiver:Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
  • Assignment:You may not assign these Terms without consent.
  • Headings:Headings are for convenience only.
